Dan & Alice is an improvised comedy drama road movie, currently in post-production. It is, at heart, indie cinema in its truest form - genuine, micro-budget, inventive, and character driven. It has much in common with the mumblecore subgenre of independent cinema, characterized by naturalistic acting and dialogue, low budget production, an emphasis on dialogue over plot, and a focus on the personal.
Dan and Alice are both in their late 30s, both in long-term relationships, and both strangers to each other. Through no fault of their own, they find themselves traveling alone together on a long cross-country drive – the plus ones on their respective partners’ invites to a wedding.
As their journey progresses, Dan and Alice start to find a common ground, a similar outlook, and a shared sense that perhaps their lives aren’t quite headed in the direction that once they’d dreamed of.
